Jeff Barringer, Founder of 3D Masters is to retire with immediate effect.
After a successful career in engineering, Jeff began 3D Masters in the year 2000, when he saw the opportunity to help shape and provide a professional face to the developing 3D Movement. The 3D Masters format quickly became the International benchmark for 3D Competition, maintaining the founding principles of popularising 3D helicopter flying, providing a progressive path for ambitious and talented pilots and promoting and accelerating the development of 3D helicopters and equipment. In 2008 the 3DX format was introduced, providing the opportunity for talented organisers in over 20 countries to arrange their own competitions with the full support of 3D Masters.
Jeff said: “When we began to plan 3D Masters back in 2000, I had no idea at all just how successful it would be. This success must be attributed to all the people who have shared my vision along the way: to my family, the hosts, team leaders, helpers, judges, fans and sponsors. Above all I must thank the pilots from all over the world, whose talent, dedication and enthusiasm have made my task a delight. Some of the current pilots were not even born when 3D Masters began. In return 3D Masters is responsible for bringing many sponsors and pilots from obscurity to the World Scene, as well as setting the standard for 3D flying.
“We are also pleased to have ploughed so much back into the 3D infrastructure through our host clubs, 3D Masters’ money having provided funding for many projects including parking, runways, clubhouses and general club wellbeing.
“The 3D scene is now extremely vibrant and it has been a wonderful experience to work with so many talented people over the years.
“Best wishes to all”
In retirement, Jeff will continue to travel extensively and support 3DX. He will also devote more time to his other interests and family.
